ILARIA SMILES AGAIN

Donate a Smile is our charitable project, born in collaboration with the Cristo Re hospital in Rome, which this time allowed us to help Ilaria.

Rome, January 26, 2019 – Ilaria is a young adult and our Angel for many years, suffering from spastic dystonic tetraparesis accompanied by NDD encephalopathy, visual impairment, hearing loss, epilepsy, pain crises, sialorrhea, and a whole series of critical episodes that have marked her life practically forever.

Like all children with chronic illness, so-called “high-intensity care”, Ilaria and her parents are also forced to fight, in the true sense of the word, to access services that generally pose no obstacle for those who do not have to deal with severe disabilities. One example is the enormous difficulty in accessing dental treatments, especially once reaching adulthood, as in cases like Ilaria’s, they must be performed under sedation and therefore require very specific expertise.

Last January 26, we were able to provide further medical assistance to Our Ilaria, who was able to undergo a dental treatment under anesthesia performed by a specialized team of doctors at Cristo Re Hospital in Rome. Everything went smoothly, and the spontaneous smiles of Ilaria, mom Stefania, and dad Agostino after the treatment made us realize, without adding any words, how important it is for them, and for many other families, to have easier access to such services.

Donate a Smile is one of our charitable projects, born precisely from the desire to facilitate access to dental treatments under sedation for high-intensity care children. A project that found in Cristo Re Hospital in Rome the ideal partner and was able to be realized thanks to the great commitment made in this direction by Our Dr. Carlo Galli and his collaborators, who worked diligently with us at Ce.R.S. to ensure that all this could be realized and function perfectly.

Our first goal has thus been fully achieved; indeed, over thirty children with chronic illness have been able to benefit from this particular dental service in just over a year. But we want to reach more Angels in need, and to do so, we absolutely need Your help, whether you are individuals or new charitable companies willing to support us, the important thing is that you are numerous.
